One little leap changes everything

Materials: walnut, brass, copper wire, sculpy, glass paint, and stone.

Dimensions: (h)34.5cm x (w)31.5cm x (d)16cm

Weight: 5kg

1 billion years ago, a marine single celled organism was in the process of reproducing by dividing in two; however, instead of the two cells going their separate ways (the all-brass cell side) they remained joined (the orange cell side). Further divisions with the same result eventually formed a small floating colony of cells.

This is one of the most important evolutionary leaps of all time, because every animal on the planet descends from this little floating assemblage of cells. (Ross Piper - Animal Earth)

Such is the power of unity.
